A new clinical study from the University of North Texas, in collaboration with Balchem, explored the potential of MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) for exercise recovery and immune response.
The study, published in the journal Nutrients, examined MSM supplementation at just 0.5–1 g/day — a much lower dosage than in previous studies (typically 3 g/day).
🏃♂️ Key Study Details
Participants: 10 healthy runners, aged 32–44
Duration: 30 days
Dosage: 0.5 g/day for 27 days, then 1 g/day for 3 days
Activity: Half marathon (21.1 km)
Goal: Observe immune, antioxidant, and recovery markers
🌿 Main Findings
The results suggest that even 1 g/day of MSM (as OptiMSM®) may help:
Support the body’s natural antioxidant activity after exercise
Encourage balanced inflammatory response
Assist the body’s muscle recovery process
This research adds to the growing scientific evidence showing how OptiMSM® may contribute to maintaining overall wellness and recovery for active individuals.
